Prescribed Burning
PRESCRIBED BURNING is the controlled application of fire to your land in order to accomplish specific conservation goals. In the event of an unplanned fire, accumulated debris results in the creation of large runaway fires, known as "forest or wild fires". Prescribed burning protects your property from this type of uncontrolled fire.
BURN PRESCRIPTION: Before fire is applied to your land, WHS implements a complete planning process which determines the acceptable conditions under which a burn can be conducted. The "Burn Prescription" includes expected fire intensity, relative humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction, air temperature, dryness of vegetation and a plan describing ignition and containment. If conditions are unacceptable on the day of the planned burn, they are considered "out of prescription" and burning will be postponed.
WHS will provide fire lane preparation, arrange for standby burn equipment, obtain all necessary permits and notify neighboring landowners. The area will be closely monitired after the burn is complete. We bring over 25 years of prescribed burning experience and will be on site to manage every aspect of the burn, from start to finish.
